Our Foundation

What We Believe

Our statement of faith, rooted in the Word of God

01

The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the revealed Word of God, fully and verbally inspired of God. We believe the Scriptures to be the inerrant, infallible Word of God, as found within the 66 books from Genesis to Revelation. We believe that God not only inspired every word, but that He has preserved them through the ages.

02

God

We believe in one God; Who is eternal, self-existent, infinite, and immutable. We believe He has one nature, one essence, and one substance; yet manifests Himself to man in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 1:17; James 1:17; 1 John 4:4

03

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ to be the one and only Saviour of mankind. We believe Jesus Christ to be eternally God and to possess all the attributes of Deity. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was virgin-born, that He was God incarnate, and that the purposes of the incarnation were to reveal God, to redeem men, and to rule over God's kingdom.

Psalm 2:7-9; Isaiah 7:14, 9:6; John 1:1, 1:14; Romans 3:19-25; Philippians 2:5-11

04

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit of God is a person who has personality and all the attributes of Deity. We believe the Holy Spirit has always been involved in the affairs of mankind; however, we believe He has a special ministry that began at Pentecost and will continue until the rapture.

Genesis 1:2; John 3:5-6; John 14:16; Acts 1:5; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

05

Sin and Salvation

We believe all men were born with an inherited sin nature received from our common ancestor, Adam. We believe that because of his nature, man is a sinner by choice, and he is totally incapable of reforming himself or ceasing from his sin by his own power. We believe the only hope of deliverance for man is a total change of mind concerning his sinful condition and a turning to Jesus Christ as the only Saviour.

Romans 3:10-23; Romans 5:6-12; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-6

06

The New Testament Church

We believe that the church began with the calling out of the twelve apostles by Jesus Christ and was empowered on the day of Pentecost. We believe the local church is composed of members who have been saved and baptized according to the command of Christ, and have voluntarily united together for the purposes of worship, fellowship, service, and observance of the ordinances of baptism and communion.

Matthew 16:16-18; Acts 2:41-43; Ephesians 5:25-30; 1 Timothy 3:4-15

07

The Last Days

We believe in the literal interpretation of the Scriptures in their grammatical and historical context. We believe in the pre-tribulational rapture of the church saints, followed by the seven-year tribulation. We believe in the pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth and His literal rule of 1,000 years.

1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19-22

08

Separation

We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Saviour and Lord. God commands His people to separate from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations.

Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1; 1 John 2:15-17

09

Creation

We believe that God created the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods. We reject evolution, the gap theory, the day-age theory, theistic evolution, and intelligent design not attributed to God as unscriptural theories of origin.

Genesis 1-2; Exodus 20:11

10

Missions

We believe that God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 5:20

11

Giving

We believe that every Christian, as a steward of that portion of God's wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to support his local church financially. We believe that God has established the tithe as a basis for giving, but that every Christian should also give other offerings sacrificially and cheerfully.

Genesis 14:20; Proverbs 3:9-10; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

12

Love

We believe that we should demonstrate love for others, not only toward fellow believers, but also toward both those who are not believers and those who oppose us. We are to deal with those who oppose us graciously, gently, patiently, and humbly.

Matthew 5:44-48; John 13:34-35; Romans 12:9-10; 1 John 3:17-18
